Rupaul’s Drag Race is a global phenomenon. As I write this content, we’ve seen 10 seasons of Drag Race and four seasons of Drag Race Allstars, and Season 11 is about to begin airing.

One of Rupaul’s NSFW gimmicks is that she’s always telling the drag queens that it takes the right combination of Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve, and Talent to win the season and the title of American’s Next Drag Superstar.

We recently started rewatching the show from Season 1, and one day we were sitting at lunch when I asked, “Why don’t we actually rate our favorite queens based off of their Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve, and Talent?”

Within 5 minutes, I had an app prototype built in Adobe Comp on my iPhone 7+. We immediately started ranking our favorite queens on a scale from 1-10 in each category. It was a blast.

The App

While it was super fun to play around with a terrible prototype, I wanted to see if I could actually build the thing. I’ve been wanting to experiment with more aspects of Xcode & Swift, so I grabbed the opportunity and ran with it.

The app is currently being reviewed by a small test group and the Apple App Store.

Tentative release date is Thursday, February 28, 2019 – just in time for the premiere of Rupaul’s Drag Race Season 11.
